Jarred served in the United States Air Force, where he worked both in aircraft maintenance and later in cyber operations. Long days on the Florida flight line taught him the value of hard work, attention to detail, and showing up regardless of the conditions. His time in cyber operations challenged him in a different way, teaching him problem-solving, adaptability, and the importance of continuous learning. While those roles were very different, both reinforced the same core values: discipline, resilience, teamwork, and service. Those lessons continue to shape how he approaches farming, business, and life today.
"The Farmer Veteran Coalition helped me realize that I wasn’t the only veteran trying to find a new mission after military service. Through their support, resources, and community, they helped reinforce the idea that agriculture can be a meaningful path forward for veterans. Building a farm can feel overwhelming at times, and knowing there is an organization dedicated to helping veterans succeed in agriculture has been incredibly encouraging. Their support has helped me continue growing both personally and professionally as a farmer."
Pura Vida Flower Farm is a regenerative specialty cut flower farm located on Jarred's family’s historic citrus property in Vero Beach, Florida. He and his wife Natalie grow seasonal flowers for weddings, events, local florists, businesses, and their community.
"We focus on growing high-quality flowers while improving soil health and preserving agricultural land. Beyond producing flowers, we are passionate about helping people connect with nature and gain a deeper appreciation for local agriculture."
After serving in the Air Force and later working in the aerospace industry, Jarred found himself searching for something more tangible and meaningful. Growing flowers started as a small project on his family’s old citrus property, but it quickly became much more than that.
"Farming challenged me, humbled me, and gave me a renewed sense of purpose. What started as a few rows of flowers has grown into a family business and a way of life that I am incredibly grateful for."
"To me, farming is still service. Instead of serving in uniform, I now serve my family, my community, and the land that has been entrusted to me. Being an American farmer means accepting responsibility for something bigger than yourself. It means working through uncertainty, caring for the land, supporting your local community, and producing something you are proud to put your name on. I feel incredibly fortunate to be raising my children on this farm and helping continue a tradition of American agriculture that has shaped our country for generations."
