Biography

Tracy joined the U.S. Army in July, 1985. His MOS was a 75D (later changed to 42 A), he served for 5 years and was honorably discharged. He provided admin assistance for soldiers deploying. The military experience, training and friendship he gained has been life changing.

"The FVC has provided access to resources & funding and has connected me to tools, equipment opportunities, and funding programs that support our farm's growth and infrastructure development. The Professional Development has strengthened my skills through training, conferences, and leadership opportunities which are tailored to us veteran farmers. The Peer Network & Mentorship has provided for me a trusted community of veteran farmers for guidance, shared knowledge, and ongoing support. The Business Growth Support has helped position our farm for expansion through education in marketing, production, and sustainability practices. We have increased recognition of our work as a veteran-owned farm, which has opened doors to partnerships and grant opportunities. We have been strongly supported in my transition from military service into agriculture, reinforcing a renewed sense of purpose through farming and our community impact."

Galloway Family Farm is a multigenerational, family-operated farm based on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Rooted in a legacy of farming that spans over a century, the farm focuses on growing fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs using regenerative and sustainable practices that prioritize soil health, water conservation, and environmental stewardship.

In addition to food production, the farm operates as a community-centered education hub, providing hands-on learning experiences for youth, families, and beginning farmers. Through workshops, field trips, and volunteer opportunities, the farm promotes food access, agricultural literacy, and healthy living. By combining production, education, and community engagement, Galloway Family Farm works to strengthen local food systems, preserve generational knowledge, and build long-term economic and environmental sustainability.

Tracy returned to his family roots when he transitioned from the military to agriculture.

"Farming continues my sense of service by allowing me to care for people, land, and community in a hands-on, meaningful way. Just as I served through commitment and responsibility, I now serve by growing healthy food, teaching others, and helping strengthen local food systems. It gives me a daily mission — providing access to fresh, nutritious food while creating opportunities for youth, families, and beginning farmers to learn and thrive."

"Being an American farmer, to me, means carrying forward a legacy of resilience, hard work, and stewardship. It is about honoring my family’s agricultural roots while contributing to the future of our country through sustainable practices and community impact. Farming represents independence, responsibility, and purpose — feeding people, caring for the land, and building something lasting for the next generation."
