Donald's military experience began when he was 17 years old. He signed up delayed entry before even graduating high school. The character, responsibility, discipline and time management skills developed during his time in the Army and has been paramount in his life both on the farm and working in a Power Plant as Instrument and Controls Technician. The GI bill made it possible to get his degree. Having his degree made getting a good job possible. The good job made buying the farm possible.

Crooked Creek Cattle Farm raises registered British White Park Cattle breeding stock. Recently adding Scottish Highland cattle to the herd. Grass fed, grass finished clean beef is also occasionally available.

"I was not born on a farm. However, I began working on a farm very early in my childhood. Beginning with helping on a small vegetable farm, picking for roadside stand and market truck. Hoeing and weeding the fields. Loading hay in fields onto the wagons then unloading into the barn to feed the cows overwinter. Those days extending from junior high right up to graduation and leaving for the army were memorable. I served three years in the army. Returning home I worked in a factory a couple years before beginning work in a power plant. I lived in a small village. I missed the farm life. Working at the power plant, I was able to purchase a small farm."
