Biography

Cascade Country Farm started in 2017 with the purchase of a set of foundation ewes and a ram from long-time Horned Dorset breeder, Monte Forster. That show season, we exhibited many of the sheep in Monte’s name until the sales were final after the Oregon State Fair, where we had the Champion Horned Dorset Ewe – she was also pulled out as one of the top 5 in the selection of Supreme Ewe at Oregon State Fair – and were named Premier Exhibitor for the breed. In 2017 we also showed a couple of Forster ewe lambs in our name that we had already purchased. We kept the momentum going in 2018, this time with all the sheep owned and exhibited by Cascade Country Farm. This is the first year we showed any sheep that we had bred ourselves. We once again were named Premier Exhibitor, and CCF 822 was selected as Champion Horned Dorset Ram.

Cascade Country Farm is owned and operated by Eric and Becky Pineda. Becky is part of the Bates family of Oregon who had some success in breeding Horned Dorset sheep years ago. We find it exciting and sentimental to find sheep to add to our flock who might go back to the breeding program of her grandpa and dad, NK and Gary. We are located in Lebanon, Oregon. We hope to continue to select great sheep to get our flock started and pass on to another generation, our son Hunter.

Along with our foundation flock from Monte Forster, we have also added two ewes and a ram from Reister Farms of Washington. In 2021 we purchased 2 Ewes with lambs from Janicki, which have some of the old Bates lines in their pedigree. We welcome visitors, so give us a call or email if you are in the area and would like to visit the farm.
