2018 Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund Application Set to Open

Returning for the eighth award cycle, Farmer Veteran Coalition is excited to announce the application for the 2018 Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund will open February 1, 2018. The application will remain open for four weeks before closing on Thursday, March 1 at 5 p.m. PT.

The Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund is a small grant program that provides direct assistance to veterans who are in their beginning years of farming or ranching. The Fellowship Fund does not give money directly to the veteran, but rather to third-party vendors for items the veteran has identified will make a crucial difference in the launch of their farm business.

“The Fellowship Fund continues to be an invaluable resource for farmer veterans who are just getting started launching their farming operation,” said Rachel Petitt, who manages the Fellowship Fund. “Thanks to the generous support from our program funders, we’re able to continue making a direct impact on the success of farmer veterans around the country.”

Since it was established in 2011, the Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund has awarded more than $1.5 million to veterans. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 and some of the most common purchases include breeding livestock, fencing, all-terrain vehicles and walk-behind tractors.

Once the application opens, a link will be posted on the Fellowship Fund webpage that will take visitors to the application.
