Military service runs deep in Nick Flanigan’s family.

Nick is Farmer Veteran Coalition’s Director of Operations at the national headquarters in Waco, Texas. He came on board in August 2022 as Director of Fund Development and later shifted over to his current role.

“To me, the two most important groups of people in this nation are Veterans and agricultural producers,” he said. “It’s amazing to see the vast differences in knowledge, experiences and journeys that all the members took to get where they are and yet they all have a common goal. I am honored to have a small part in helping the Farmer Veterans accomplish those goals.”

Military Family

A native of Post in the Texas Panhandle, Nick was raised on the cotton farm of his World War II Navy Veteran grandfather. Glenn Norman, who was a Machinist Mate 2nd class aboard the USS Jason, farmed that land from 1946 until his death earlier this year.

Nick’s paternal grandfather, William Flanigan, U.S. Army (ret.), was in the last draftee class for World War II. The now 94-year-old began his service as a dental tech and ended as an MP tasked with searching for Japanese soldiers hiding on Okinawa.

Nick’s father, the late Michael Flanigan, was a T-38 Talon training pilot In the Air Force, while his uncle, Col. William Flanigan (ret.), made the Air Force his career and was the 446th Airlift Wing Commander.

Nick received his bachelor’s degree in agribusiness and marketing as well as an MBA in management from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. He has a wealth of experience in agriculture-related fields.

He worked for the State of Texas as an underground water conservationist/agriculture specialist, then as a sorghum seed production specialist for Richardson Seeds, a business and data specialist for Farm Journal, and a sales and marketing specialist for TKXS out of North Carolina.

Nick’s wife Kristol is Director of Student Accounts at Baylor University in Waco. They have two children. Grady, 17, is a high school senior who plays football and soccer. He plans to attend Baylor and join the ROTC. Daughter Kalyn, 14, is a freshman active in volleyball, soccer and FFA.
