Lead Farm Maintenance TechnicianDepartment: MaintenanceReports To: Farm PresidentDirect Reports: Maintenance assistantFLSA Status: Determined by HRJOB SummaryThe Lead Farm Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance, repairs and upkeep of all the farm equipment and machinery, including but not limited to preventive maintenance checks, greasing, oil changes, pumps, separator, augers, fencing, back up equipment operator, maintenance records, PM program entries, etc.  The role serves as the primary decision maker for maintenance priorities, ensuring tasks run smoothly, and work is completed properly.Minimum QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GED required, trade school certification preferred or equivalent hands-on mechanical experience may be consideredCertifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license required; certifications such as: ASE, Diesel engine, Electrical, Pneumatics, Hydraulics preferredYears of Experience: 3-5 years’ Work experience with preventive maintenance of equipment (trucks, tractors, skid steers, etc.)2-years of Mechanical experience2-years Welding and fabrication experienceMinimum Knowledge/Skills RequiredStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systemsAbility to follow directions, multitask and meet deadlinesAbility to work independently and with a teamPerform welding, fabrication, and preventive maintenance skillsKnowledge of basic safety procedures and farm equipment operationGood problem solving and decision making abilitiesBasic computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft office (word, excel, outlook)Training will be provided for specific techniques and computer programs utilized at Golden Oaks FarmMust be able to pass pre-employment physicalPhysical ability to perform labor includes lifting, bending, climbing, and working under equipmentEssential FunctionsSchedule and perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment, systems, and facilitiesCoordinate and Conduct oil changes, lubrication, and related equipment servicingOperate farm equipment and machinery as neededPerform welding and fabrication for repairs and new buildsAssign daily tasks to the Maintenance Assistant and monitor work qualityPrioritize maintenance requests and determine repair vs. replace actionsManage parts inventory, ordering, and vendor relationshipsPower wash and clean farm equipment regularlyMaintain and repair farm structures and assigned maintenance areasTrack and order parts as directed; maintain clean and organized work areasFollow all farm safety protocols and assist in training others when neededTroubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate external service vendorsSubmit receipts to office staff for documentationRead and interpret manuals and work orders for service tasksMaintain and repair barn components (e.g., gates, posts, waterers, headlocks, grates)Make repair/replacement decisions based on condition and functionalityOversee and support maintenance assistant in daily tasks and schedulingCollaborate with the Herd Team on cross-functional maintenance projectsAssist with farm and livestock operations when neededUnload trailers and truck deliveriesRespond to after-hours equipment breakdowns, perform emergency repairs and participate in on-call rotationSECONDARY FUNCTIONSServe as a backup equipment operatorPerform backup scraping dutiesAssist with Assist with farm operations during peak workload periodsAssist with forage hauling and storage operationsSupport Farm team with special projects as assignedPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
