With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy. About the role.The purpose of this position is to design, implement and manage the regional food safety policies and technical support for McCain North American Facilities and governance of the North American microbiological laboratories. The Food Safety Manager ensures compliance with all food safety related local, state, and federal food laws and champions McCain’s food safety improvement across all manufacturing sites in the North American region. What you’ll be doing.Serve as change agent in shaping the food safety culture in McCain North America.Creates and supports McCain corporate Quality, Food Safety programs, including the review of policies, procedures, and guidance on appropriate implementation.Ensures implementation of programs, monitors and trends food safety Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for compliance and process effectiveness.Accountable for all product, raw-materials, packaging food safety risk assessments, change management and trial requests based on established global and regional food safety procedures.Keeps abreast of emerging issues in food safety and communicates adequately to functional and cross-functional partners.Develops mitigation strategies for production and environmental (Micro) risks.Periodically reviews the effectiveness of food safety programs (Ex. EMP) throughout the facilities in the region and proposes changes based on findings.Has a strong background of foreign material mitigation devices (ex. X-ray, Metal detectors).Serves as the point of contact for leading investigations on any major food safety issues, escalating to the appropriate level as necessary.Works with cross-functional partners to ensure risks are adequately addressed throughout the supply chain.Oversees the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the GFSI standard, including food safety fundamentals in accordance with FSMA regulations.Accountable for Internal and External Laboratory Performance.Manages and develops direct reports (Central Lab), to include time off reporting, year objective setting and monitoring, and supporting individual development plans. Provides adequate support to the factories to foster preventative approach, continuous improvement and facilitate implementation of mitigation strategies.Co-leads the monthly connect with all facility quality managers or designee to evaluate and discuss food safety KPI trends, emerging trends in the industry and other food safety updates What you’ll need to be successful.Experience in managing multiple locations and leading through influence including both corporate and plant environments.Proven technical expertise in food safety, risk assessment, auditing within food manufacturing.Experience with process validation and data analysis.Ability to weigh business needs with risk to provide data driven and balanced recommendationsAbility to relentlessly pDemonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of relevant food safety and regulatory requirements in the US, Canada and other countries is highly desired.Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, food science, or other relevant science related degreeMinimum of 5 years of related food safety experience with demonstrated technical and leadership capabilities.Proficiency in HACCP, FSMA, PCQI and GFSIStrong knowledge of manufacturing, hygienic design, hygienic zoning, quality, and sanitation practicesStrong working knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement About McCain.Click Here to learn more about McCain and how we provide you with opportunities to make an impact that matters. Leadership principles.At McCain, our leadership principles guide how we engage with customers, collaborate as a team, and achieve success. USD annually + Bonus eligibility The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting.
