CHS is looking for a Senior Commodity Trader to join our Oilseeds Product Line team. In this role, the ability to work across the enterprise and with a diverse group of people and customers is essential. The role requires collaborative decision making while utilizing details, facts, and data to make informed decisions, and strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships, and attention to detail are a must in this position. ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a Canola Seed merchandising strategy to facilitate the operational efficiency, profitability and value created for our owners across CHS’s origination and trading geography. Build strong relationships and optimize logistics in our supply chain.Perform market analysis on and interpret global trade flows and commodity supply & demand. Provide timely and transparent information such as trades, coverage, buying interest, competitive offers, and open demand.Responsible for maximizing end to end margin for Canola Seed handling and processing facilities. Proactively communicate opportunities and challenges. Work with CHS regional traders to align origination and positioning, trading, and logistics.Manage the position, origin and destination pairs, relationship trading and arbitrage of CHS truck and rail deck to all tributary Canola destinations. Drive destination market access for the CHS supply chain by maintaining competitive prices through global price discovery. Maintain existing customer base and identify, develop and build new opportunities. Resolve issues and disputes with accounting, transportation, shippers and buyers/end users.Provide exceptional customer service by being the first point of contact with the consumer, user, and marketer and in some cases utilizing divisional marketing resources.Support the annual business planning, budgeting, and forecasting process. Champion and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Minimum Qualifications (required)High School diploma or GED4+ years of experience in Trading, Procurement and/or CommoditiesAdditional QualificationsBachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field4+ years of merchandising experience – preferably in global sectorIn depth understanding of commodity markets and tradingExcellent analytical and decision making skillsAbility to adapt to fast changing environmentExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalExperience managing P&LWorking knowledge of GAFTA contracts and futures exchange rulesExperience working with international teamsPre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position.
