This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.??Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a qualified Farm & Ranch Assistant for a diversified crop and livestock producer in Nebraska. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable, well-rounded individual who enjoys variety and wants to be involved in both farming and livestock production. The operation includes approximately 4,000 to 5,000 acres of crop production, a large commercial cow-calf operation, hay production, irrigation, harvest, grain handling, and backgrounding calves. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a team environment and willing to assist wherever needed throughout the operation. This is not a position for someone who only wants to sit in a tractor. The employer is looking for an individual who takes pride in their work, cares for equipment and facilities, and wants to become a dependable, long-term member of the operation.?RESPONSIBILITIESOperate combines during corn and soybean harvestAssist with irrigation throughout the growing seasonPerform tillage, field preparation, haying, and other seasonal fieldworkOperate tractors, hay equipment, trucks, and other farm machineryHaul grain, hay, cattle, and farm inputs as neededAssist with grain handling and winter grain haulingPerform routine equipment maintenance, including oil changes, inspections, servicing, and seasonal preparationKeep equipment, trucks, shops, and work areas clean and properly maintainedAssist with spring and fall calvingTag, feed, doctor, process, sort, and move cattleAssist with weaning and backgrounding calvesBuild, repair, and maintain fencesHelp prepare and maintain pastures, corrals, livestock facilities, and water systemsWork closely with the farm foreman and other long-term employeesAssist with general farm and ranch projects as needed?OPERATIONThe operation includes:Approximately 4,000 to 5,000 acres of crop productionApproximately 1,100 to 1,200 commercial cowsBoth spring- and fall-calving herdsBackgrounding calves to approximately 700 to 800 poundsIrrigated row cropsHay productionThree combinesNewer and well-maintained John Deere equipmentMultiple grain trucks and cattle trucksModern cattle-working facilitiesHydraulic chutes and a well-designed corral systemOn-site mechanical support through an affiliated irrigation and repair business?QUALIFICATIONSPrevious experience working on a diversified farm and livestock operation preferredStrong combine-operating experience requiredExperience with cattle handling, calving, feeding, doctoring, and processingAbility to operate tractors, hay equipment, trucks, and farm machineryMechanical aptitude and willingness to perform routine maintenanceIrrigation experience preferredSprayer or planter experience would be a plusCDL or ability to obtain a CDL preferredMust be dependable, honest, safety-minded, and willing to work as part of a teamMust take pride in equipment, trucks, facilities, livestock, and overall appearance of the operationAbility to work extended hours during calving, haying, and harvest seasonsMust be interested in a stable, long-term position?COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS$25+/- per hour, depending on experience and qualifications401(k) or retirement planPaid vacationHealth insurance available after an introductory employment periodPossible work vehicleHousing may be available?LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITYThe employer has operated a successful and diversified agricultural business for many years and has several employees with 10 to 18 years of tenure.
